Former CHAIRE graduate student Zach England recently accepted a Research Associate position working with Dr. Jessica Pempek, Animal Welfare Specialist in the Department of Animal Sciences at The Ohio State University. His role is to assist Dr. Pempek in conducting research which is currently focused on calf welfare. In the future, Zach will help with teaching students and have an extension role as well.
When asked about his recent experience Zach shared, “Being a graduate student in CHAIRE gave me the skills needed to not only accurately assess different components of an animal’s well-being, but it also gave me the skills necessary to understand various opinions and perspectives in order to work towards a common goal, specifically optimal animal welfare.”
We wish Zach the best in his new role within the university and look forward to hearing about his continued progress in the future!
