As an undergraduate at The Ohio State University, I worked with Dr. Kelly George and Dr. Steve Moeller to design and conduct a research project investigating a potential reduction in aggression after preconditioning with classical music prior moving them to group housing. After completing this research and seeing the research process, I was eager to do more working with other species with a particular interest in equine. The behavior aspect of my research is what sparked my attention, so I decided to pursue a master’s degree in a graduate program. To my luck and surprise, Dr. Kim Cole, the Ohio State equine specialist was looking to take on a graduate student the following year. I was accepted into the graduate school and into Dr. Cole’s program, and am now working on projects in the areas of equine extension and human-animal interactions. It is my hope to continue on the research path beyond graduate school.
